This Privacy Policy explains how Day One Foundry LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in connection with the Sumi mobile application (the “App”). We built Sumi to respect your attention, and we designed it to collect as little about you as possible. By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.
We do not require or request any directly identifying information such as your name, email address, postal address, or phone number. Sumi does not include a user account system, social login, or contact-syncing.
When you use the App, certain limited information is collected automatically through the third-party services we use:
Sumi uses your device’s motion sensors to detect when the phone is moved or lifted during a focus session, which is the core of how a session is “held.” This motion data is processed locally on your device in real time. It is not recorded, stored, sent to us, or shared with anyone.
Your focus session history, lifetime statistics, streaks, intentions, and preferences are stored locally on your device. We do not have access to this information. If you delete the App, this information is removed with it.
We do not sell your information. We share limited information only with the service providers that make the App work, and only as needed for them to provide their services to us:
We may also disclose information if required to do so by law, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect our rights or safety, or investigate fraud or security issues.
Sumi does not display third-party advertisements and does not use advertising identifiers or track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
On-device data remains until you delete it or uninstall the App. Analytics and crash data collected by our service providers are retained according to their standard retention practices and our configuration. Purchase records are retained as long as necessary to provide and account for your purchases and to meet legal and financial obligations.
We and our service providers use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Sumi is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Because Sumi has no account and stores your activity on your device, you can remove all on-device information at any time by deleting the App. For data held by our service providers, you may contact us at the address below and we will work to honor applicable requests. We do not sell personal information.
We are based in the United States, and our service providers may process and store information in the United States and other countries. By using the App, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries that may have different data-protection rules than your own.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be reflected in the App or on this page. Your continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or our handling of information, contact us at: support@dayonefoundry.com.
